Red Deer Resort & Casino Celebrates Grand Casino Opening with Community and VIPs

On September 8, 2024, the Red Deer Resort & Casino celebrated the grand opening of its new casino, marking a significant achievement for Central Alberta’s entertainment and hospitality landscape. Chief and Council of the O’Chiese First Nation joined Red Deer’s Mayor Ken Johnston, city officials, and VIP guests for an inspiring ceremony. Together, they cut the ribbon, symbolizing the launch of this major cultural and economic addition to the region.
The casino, with over 38,000 square feet of gaming space, offers a diverse range of entertainment options, including slot machines, table games, a dedicated poker room, and dining and bar areas—all reflecting Alberta’s stunning natural landscape. Inspired by the prairies and mountains, the design pays homage to the cultural heritage of the O’Chiese First Nation, emphasizing elements such as nature, ancestral lands, and the spiritual importance of water.
The casino is expected to stimulate tourism and create up to 20% more employment opportunities, adding to Red Deer’s economic growth. It complements the resort’s existing amenities, which include 241 guestrooms, 15 modern meeting rooms, and a 53,000-square-foot conference center, enhancing the Red Deer Resort & Casino’s legacy of exceptional service.
